The Outreach Band provides an opportunity for the country’s outstanding 16-22 year old musicians to gather for an enriching and inspiring musical and cultural experience. It is an outstanding opportunity to perform under the leadership of a guest conductor and to collaborate with a featured soloist.
While performing on the saxophone or guest conducting outside of Malaysia, often I received queries about what Malaysian music is, and where to find them. Malaysian music is as varied, complex, rich, and vibrant as the people themselves. It is such a broad and evolving topic, and I dare not claim an expert to it.
