Abdullah, Mustaqim

Mustaqim graduated from University Teknologi MARA with an honours degree in music. He studied composition and trombone, and was also active as a conductor. In 2010, he played in the World Youth Orchestra for the Youth Olympic Games. His other collaborations include the National Symphony Orchestra, DBKL Orchestra, Wells Cathedral School UK, Norfolk Community Band UK, and the Queensland Youth Orchestra.

From 2007 – 2015, Mustaqim was a member of the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. He has also performed in a few Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra concerts as substitute trombone. He has been travelling the country conducting high school and community ensembles. He is currently attached in Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur. He has learnt and worked with conductors such as Benjamin Zander and Adrian Tan, and has had trombone lessons from Eric Lee and Marques Young. He learnt conducting from Dr. Kenneth Thompson and Kevin Field during his membership of the Conductor’s Circle. From 2010 to 2012, Mustaqim served as assistant conductor of the National Youth Orchestra.

Being passionate about nature, Mustaqim enjoys tranquil sceneries and mighty landscapes, and offers to share his idealism of a world filled with love and peace through teaching music.
